An ounce of prevention...Gilding is one of the oldest decorative techniques surviving today - and one of the most fragile. Its biggest enemy has been water and other solvents which break down the adhesive used but in the last 50 years the growth of the use of gold paint has often been a poor remedy to traditional gilded artifacts and architectural detail. Finns can undertake all painting and decorative projects from external railings and other metalwork to the delicate gilding of heritage properties and ecclesiastical buildings always in harmony with the building and the original methods deployed. |
